Safety & Complaints
The short version: OneVia is for people aged 16 and over. You can report any post. Serious reports hide a post straight away. If we get something wrong, tell us and a person will look again. If you are in danger, call your local emergency services first.
1. How we keep OneVia safe
- Real people. Every account is confirmed by email and by a reply from the owner's own mobile phone, with limits on how fast accounts can be created.
- Before publishing. An automated check blocks posts that threaten or attack a person, and tells the author why.
- After publishing. Anyone can report a post. Reports of threats, doxxing, child sexual abuse material and intimate images hide the post immediately, while we review it. Other reports are reviewed by us; a post that many people report is hidden automatically.
- Adverts. Every advert on OneVia is checked by a person before it is shown, and is labelled "Sponsored".
- AI content is labelled. AI answers and AI-generated images are clearly marked as such.
- You are in control. You can block anyone, and blocked accounts cannot see or reply to you.
2. Reporting something
Use Report on any post, in the app or on the website. You can also email [email protected]. We take the report seriously whatever the reason, and we never tell the person you reported who you are.
Intimate images shared without consent
If an intimate image or video of you has been posted without your consent, including one made or altered by AI, use our request form. You do not need an account. The post is hidden as soon as you send the form, and we aim to remove it, and identical copies we find, within 48 hours.
Child safety
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material. We remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities. If you see any, report it here and to the Internet Watch Foundation at report.iwf.org.uk.
Copyright
Email [email protected] with your details, the work, the link to the post, and a statement that you own the work or act for its owner. See section 9.3 of our Terms of Use.
3. What we tell people about our decisions
If we hide or remove your content, or restrict your account, we tell you what we did, why, whether it followed a user report or our automated check, and how to complain. Our rules are in the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use.
4. Complaints
Email [email protected] and say what happened and why you think it is wrong. This works for a decision about your content or account, for a report you made, or for the way we handled a complaint.
- We aim to acknowledge it within 3 working days and give you a decision within 21 days.
- Where we can, a different person looks at it from the one who made the first decision.
- Decisions about threats, child sexual abuse material and intimate images are not reopened on their merits, but we always re-check a factual mistake, such as the wrong post or the wrong person.
- You can also complain to Ofcom (UK) or, in the EU, to a regulator or an out-of-court dispute body there. This does not affect your legal rights.
5. Authorities and regulators
Police, courts, Ofcom and other authorities can contact us at [email protected], in English, quoting a case reference. We check this address every working day. We only disclose user data on a valid legal request, except where we must report child sexual abuse material or there is a threat to life.
